How to use AlphaCam as Engraving software

I shall show you how to use Alpha Cam.
Alpha Cam is a very good and friendly Cad Cam program.
The Cad part is simple but easy to use.

There is one problem : my program is Dutch. ( i shall try to explane the most of it )

I show you how to mill a simple rectangle.

Start program and select the rectangle button. press enter and then 100 tab 100 and enter. press Esc.

Select max view button

Select material def. button and select the rectangle what you have drawn. ok.

Give Z value of surface. ( i use zero )

Give the Min Z value ( thickness of material )

select the rectangle button. Draw with the mouse arrow a rectangle and when you have done this press Esc.

Press “select tool” button and choos a tool ( for example a 5mm flat tool.

press “milling direction” button

Choose for “CW” milling and “Inside” In Dutch “Binnen”

When you pressed the button in the middle “Selected” . It means that only the selected contours will have these properties.

Select the contour(s) you want.

The 3 buttons you see below this one are “End milling”, “rough milling” and “Finish 3D milling”

Select “rough milling”

choose Everything

choose inside

press ok

Vrijloophoogte means : When your milling is ready to what Z value must your cutter go.

Materiaalhoogte means : What is the Z value of your material.

Aanloophoogte means : When your program starts, the tool goes to this Z value.

Aantal snedes means : How many time you want to go on depth

press ok

When it’s ok ,  you see something like this.

The blue line is the middle of the cutter and you can also see the start and end arrows.

Choose “Contour Milling”
This is not necessary . It’s only to show you this.

buitenhoeken means : outside corners

afgerond : rounded
scherp : sharp
lus : loop

Vrijloophoogte means : When your milling is ready to what Z value must your cutter go.

Aanloophoogte means : When your program starts, the tool goes to this Z value.

Aantal snedes means : How many time you want to go on depth

select what.

When it’s ok ,  you see something like this.

Press the 3D busson

click on the left upper window on you right mouse button. and choos 3D simulation

Here you can see your material with a thickness of 10mm and your rectangle with a depth of 5mm.

When it’s ok you can save your program in G-code. So press this button.

make a choice which Post Processor you want to use.
