Thankyou for a fantastic website. I have learned a lot from it and have applied my knowledge into building my very first engraver prototype.I have not completed the project as yet as my next step is to sort out the stepper motors.
As can be seen from the photos I used a flatbed scanner chassis to handle the x axis movement. I was also fortunate to get my hands on a bunch of old inkjet printers and was able to utilise the epson stylus head unit/chassis with the steel rods to control the functions of the y axis. the Z axis was a bit more trickier and decided to build something out of super wood (try to keep the weight down) This project is my first attempt and will re-build it into a stronger form once I know it works. My uses for the engraver will be cutting hobby pc boards and cutting/shaping several other things I can get my hands on
